Last year, Spyker filed a lawsuit against General Motors accusing GM of interfering with a proposed deal with with Zhejiang Youngman Lotus Automobile Company. Spyker filed on behalf of Saab, the bankrupt car company, and paid the legal cost in exchange for rights to a settlement or judgment. Spyker accused GM of trying to eliminate a potential rival in the mainland China by refusing to approval a proposed agreement between Youngman and Saab for funding of car development not using GM technology.

On Saturday, September 8, 2012, there was a gathering of Saab owners at Scanwest Autosport in Seattle. Scanwest Autosport is a Saab garage that will be celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2013. Every year in September, Scanwest invites its customers for a Customer Appreciation Barbeque.

78 new 2011 Saabs will be sold via SmartAuction on August 30th. Vehicles sold with Michigan resale titles.
The sale is open to U.S. Saab dealerships registered with SmartAuction and standard auction sales fees will apply. The auction starts 9:00 am Thursday, August 30th and ends the same afternoon at 2:30 pm Eastern time.

Ally Financial, previously GMAC, obtained a court judgment several months ago to take possession of about 900 new Saabs located primarily at 3 U.S. ports. Two auctions have already taken place. The next auction is on August 16, 2012 between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time.
