Well, I decided not to mess with a hybrid turbo.... yet. I found a good deal on a used T3. It should be shipping today. I decided that I should get everything back together and find out whether or not I am satisfied with what the T3 can give me, given all of the other upgrades I'm doing, before I go bigger. Besides, I got it for such a good price, it just doesn't make sense not to....
The cylinder head has been reassembled. It is now back on the car. I am awaiting delivery of my turbo..... Then I'll begin reassembly...
(Consolidated a bunch of short posts for the move into one) Finally scheduled time at the machine shop. Saturday, the head is getting skimmed, ported and polished.... Progress is a good thing. Valves and Springs are off... So ready for tomorrow. When I get home, I can start planning reassembly. Woohooo!! Welll.... I didn't get to go to the machine shop. Had to drop off the cylinder head. ...
Since I have the head off, I'm going to replace the valve springs. Jim M. stated that going to a stronger spring is one of the best mods you can do on the head - best bagn for buck. I ordered the T5 uprated springs from genuinesaab.com. I also ordered the valve spring removal tool from ZDMAK. Should make the job much easier. This has been dragging out waaaay too long. I am so ready to get the beast back together....
Now considering the FMIC. Had no plans to do it, but it looks like all my reasons to not, have been eliminated. Gonna go with the Yonaka Type 6.
