  • New pictures of the Saab 93 designed by Castriota

A few new and great quality pictures of the Saab 93 designed by Jason Castriota surfaced on a Danish website. Better pictures make the design much more attractive to look at compared to the earlier pictures we have seen.

The design of this new Saab received many critical responses. Some think the design is a great combination of older Saab details combined with the Saab Phoenix Concept car. Others may think the lines don't really work together and there is too much retro design. We will leave it up to the reader to decide so please share your thoughts in the comments.

Thanks to millerman of the Dutch Saab forum for the tip.

I didn't like the Castriota design based on earlier images, but these images have changed my mind. I especially like the next-to-last with a greenish tint. I would buy this.

Frank, any links to the Danish site, or higher resolution images?

I still think the car is too long for that hatchback shape. The cars that he's evoking were much more compact. Maybe a two-door version would have better proportions.

I still think it looks a bit off - but then again that is what used to make them quirky and different from everyone else. Looks better in these pictures for sure - but I too agree with it being to long to be a hatchback.

Are these secret leaked images? I posted a comment on saabsunited about this article. It was there for a while but then mysteriously disappeared without a trace.

That doesn't surprise me and is not the first time... I don't think SU likes SW very much.

These were the only resolution that was posted last week. The site didn't name a source.

Am I too curious if I ask why ?

Nope. Doesn't do a thing for me. Perhaps it would have presented better in-person, but we'll never have the opportunity to see it in the flesh, will we?

I mean, the surfacing is lovely, especially on the hood and rear fenders. But yeah, it all just looks poorly proportioned.

Not really sure. Perhaps it's because we value any opinion here on SW about Saab, positive and negative. Or they just don't want to send traffic from their site to another Saab blog and wanted to post the pictures on their site. Bad for advertising income, I suppose. Entire articles and some of my comments have disappeared in the past. I just don't like censoring without explanation or valid reason. But it is a private business site so its their decision.

Saab World was mentioned on Autoblog's piece on this very car: Saab's never-was 9-3 gets a few better looks

Great job scooping this up, Frank!

Nice! Just being in the right place at the right time. New watermarks look great.

The article was a treat, when I pulled up 'Car Buzz' (one of the first things I do in the morn) and was so proud to see the credit was SAABWorld.net. Thank you Frank!!!!

The Audi A7 hatchback rides on a 114" wheelbase, longer than whatever Spyker had in mind for the new 9-3 hatch. And certainly Audi is selling far more of these hatchbacks than Spyker ever hoped for... and beyond even the imagination of the gutless and incompetent management running GM.

I'm pleasantly surprised I like the lines, different from what I saw before this is something I would buy... would like to see the inside first and drive of course but nice and it does favor concept car alot.
