  • Saab featured on Top Gear UK

Saab was featured on the latest Top Gear episode which aired on February 26, 2012. It is quite long and features some of the history of the brand and the good and bad of some of the features and cars.

James May and Jeremy Clarkson drive a Saab 92, 99 Turbo, 9-3 and 9-5 in this episode. They drive the latest Saab 9-5 towards the end and make these remarks:

Jeremy: So this is it. This is the last ever Saab. That we're in right now.
    James: Yeah.
Jeremy: This is the final chapter. I really liked the way they did things.
Jeremy: I am going to miss Saab.
James: It is a sad day.
    Jeremy: It is sad.

Unless there is going to be a new buyer of all of Saab's assets very soon, it is very sad indeed.

It was made possible by the Saab Owners Club in the United Kingdom and they provided the Saabs that were featured in this episode. They have some interesting pictures about the filming on their website: http://www.saabclub.co.uk/index.php/...-top-gear.html

When they first started out, I thought it wasn't go to be very positive. But as usual, it turned around quickly and started to become positive. Very nice to see this on Top Gear.

Very well done. Kind of surprising. It is a shame Saab will be gone... come on BMW!

That was a great homage to SAAB, even the parts where they said "SAAB didn't think it was good enough". Just goes to show how far the SAAB engineers would go and how much pride they hold for their brand. Very well done!

Really well done. No wonder Top Gear is such a popular show.
