    9 months in the oven...

My wife is currently pregnant, a bit over eight and a half months. Which means that very very soon I'll be a dad. This is our first child, a boy, who we'll name Arthur Ewan Piereck. Unfortunately I missed most of the pregnancy, as I was supposed to have deployed to Afghanistan but didn't. My wife went to South Korea (where she's from) right around five months of pregnancy, so I missed the big belly times.

Within a week I believe I'll be flying to Korea, hopefully catch up with her a few days prior to the baby being born. The baby is pretty big, just yesterday the doctor measured him at 8.15 pounds, and told my wife to eat less. There is a chance they will induce labor, as the doctor says the baby has grown all it needs to, and my wife being a tiny Korean lady it might not be good for her to carry such a big baby.

My wife says the bay has a big nose, so I know that it's mine and not the milkman's! On this ultrasound photo you can make out his nose and lips:

So in the next few days, if you notice my sudden disappearance from my daily posts here it might be because I am in South Korea helping my wife deliver the baby. We're both excited and she's already thinking of having a second child... Maybe not much time for SAABs in the near future, but I can't wait for Arthur to grow up so I can have someone to help me change the oil and hand me out tools in the garage!

Arthur Ewan Piereck? You mean he's not going to be named Arther Saab Piereck? Just kidding, don't really name him Saab.

You're a brave man taking on a challenge and responsibility like that! And an extra hand when working on the Saabs is always welcome. Good luck with the trip to South Korea and helping delivering the baby. Even though I think your wife has a different side of the story of how much you 'helped'..

Actually I wanted Arthur Stig Piereck but the wife nixed Stig... foe hear Korean ears it sounds just like "stick" and that sure would be an odd name.
