Sweden issuing new money, old money will be worthless
This fall, Sweden will be issuing new paper money and coins, except the 10 krona coins. The old designs will become worthless in October 2016 and October 2017. The 50 ore coins are already worthless. Unlike the Bank of England where you can forever exchange old bills (but not coins), Swedish money will cease to have value.
I plan to exchange my paper money in the next few months and forfeit about $4 in coins. Anyone traveling t Sweden soon?

Interesting and colorful designs. It's nice they used famous Swedes instead of royalty or (dead) presidents. Definitely much nicer than the tired and boring design of US money. The scenery on the other side is nice as well.

Norway is getting new bank notes as well. Awesome design, even better than Sweden in my opinion. No people...!

I hate it when a country voids old money. In the UK, they do that but you can go to a bank where they voluntarily exchange limited amounts and the Bank of England will exchange unlimited amounts forever. With coins, there is a cutoff date. With Sweden, the money will have no value, even if you go to the central government bank in Stockholm. Dutch guilder banknotes expire between 2025 and 2032, which is a much more generous timetable than Sweden. See http://www.dnb.nl/en/payments/exchan...otes/index.jsp Dutch guilder coins became worthless in 2007. I have a few. Exchange of former national currency: (De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB, National Central Bank of the Netherlands) exchanged guilder coins until 1 January 2007 and will continue to exchange guilder banknotes until 1 January 2032 The Netherlands and the euro - European Commission )

When you are in Sweden, use up all of your money.
