Is GLSC for Michigan-ites-ers-der like it states in the section title... or the Great Lakes region like it states in this thread title?
Good question. The website shows: Great Lakes SAAB Club (Michigan and Surrounding)
http://saabclub.com/index.php?option...62&Itemid=68#m
Perhaps Jim can provide some more info.
I would guess that it should include any state bounded by a Great Lake...
dang. what happend to the old forum? guessing there was not enough interest to jutify supporting it. Anyways, at least Wulf and The Old Man are here.
I'd Like to know if there is a fall meet or run... either a Saab meet via the GLSC or any other poker/color runs like Derf in Kzoo.
The old forum was based on SMF (open-source) software and there were a lot of issues with spam. It seemed easier to have a forum like SAABworld where there is a dedicated board for club news, events and other activities and have technical info and classifieds shared with the rest of the forum.
I didn't save a list of the members who signed up on the old forum. I asked Jim if he could email all the members but haven't heard back from him. I hope Jim will visit here to let us know what's going on.

The club has been somewhat "dormant" for the past year, some of it due to some of the active members moving out of state for employment. Additionaly, my own employment is now in Chicago, so my weekends are taken up with commuting and keeping the Saab fleet on the road, among other things. Plus, I think we got a little burned out on the convention and then lost our Saab connections, which did not help things.
We are still in existance (and have been since 1984), just not active lately.
My apologies for taking so long to get back.
Jim

The GLSC is not just for MI enthusiasts. We typically have members from Ontario, Indiana, IL and Ohio. So yes, it is kind of "regional", and some enthusiasts find it easier to come to our stuff because it is closer than many other clubs. We have no dues, btw, and offer free T-shirts (from the 2007 convention) to anyone who shows up!![]()
Boo! Wakey...wakey!
Such an active community here... :sarcasm: ...
Let's organize a Michigan event or get-together. You don't need a club to do that. Or just create a Michigan Saab Club.
Ann Arbor Summer Festival...3 weeks of free music nightly...good for a meet and greet one night.
Maybe a monthly bar night? I am open to that....
Is GLSC still going? I just got my Saab last spring, and i find that i am surrounded by VW guys. Sure would be nice to be around some Saab guys.
Yes, we are still active, had a couple of gatherings in 2012, one in Detroit area and the other in Hell (MI) in October a winery tour. We are (more) active on Facebook, so please find us on there. Also, send me your email if you are not on our mailing list, as major events are advertised via email distribution as well. Occasionally I remember to add them to SaabWorld, but not always.
I can be contacted at lamanjim at juno dot com.
Thanks
Jim
BTW, our next event is typically the winter party. Traditionally, it is over in Holland in early March, but due to unemployment this year (and the fact that my wife needs a break from doing it for the past 20+ years) we are looking for a different location. Ideas or offers can be emailed to the club at the above address. Locations in SE or Central MI typically generate the best attendance I should add. Thx!
How about an ice driving event on a frozen lake in the UP? Build an Ice Hotel or a couple of igloos, barbeque and bonfire at night in the snow, bring some snow mobiles or sled dogs. The Michigan Saab Arctic Adventure!
Saab site for the Netherlands and Belgium in Dutch: SaabWereld

Is the club still around? I'm in Oakland county
