    Retractable cargo net 400130415

A friend of mine from another Saab dealer sent me one of the retractable cargo nets (P/N 400130415) for the 9-5 Sportcombi as an early birthday present, so I took about an hour last night fitting/installing it. Unfortunately, I have a problem taking pictures of the actual installation process, and only got one of the final fit, but I have to say it was very easy. Altogether, I spent just under an hour.

The basic idea behind the install is:
-Remove the carpeted plastic back piece from the left rear seat (60% split.)
-Cut out two holes that are pre-marked on the inside of the plastic. (This part was sort of a pain for me because I used a utility knife, I'd recommend to anyone else doing this to use a Dremel to save time and have cleaner cut-outs.)
-Refit back piece to the seat and install the mounting slide rails for the net/cassette. (The hardware includes: 2 black plastic trim rings to fill the cut-outs, 2 aluminum rails that match up with two rails on the cassette, and 4 T30 screws that go into cage nuts that were installed in the seat from the factory.)

I'll take some more pictures tonight and add them, maybe it'll be useful to someone else thinking about doing this, the scans for the instructions are also available on SaabDocs, just reference the part number I listed above.

Hi, Just bought one of these from ebay and awaiting delivery so thanks for the post as it will help me fit it. This type of retractable net came as standard on my old E280 estate and make a great dog guard for my 4 greyhounds - can't wait to fit it.

Well I fitted it today and apart from cutting the piece of seat back out (no dremmel here either) it went like a dream. Thanks for the tutorial it helped.

Glad it was useful, I just returned from a trip to Sweden and just about every wagon I came across had this or the metal cage guard fitted, and yet here in the US, you almost never see them.

I have the metal cage on my 06' but on 00' I had the retractable and I liked it more. The cage version tends to rattle some times. Someone local to me had a retractable for sale for $35 but I missed out on it.
