    Talking Burnsside's 1986 9000 Turbo Repairs & Restoration

So last week things got slow at work - the dealership I work at. So having my 86' 9000 sitting in the back lot I decided to toss some parts on the ol' gal and start getting her ready for Carlisle. No new pictures of the car as of yet - nothing cosmetically has changed (yet).....

So I replaced BOTH lower engine mounts; I replaced the rear lower with a SOLID aftermarket mount and the front with a factory style hydraulic motor mount. After doing this I then went on to replace the severely torn passenger side outer C/V boot.

I then sprayed down the "oil debris" from some smallish oil leak the engine has in hopes of maybe finding it's source - but overall it's a small average sort of seepage I am not too worried about right now.

    Next up on the list;

    • Replace both coolant temp sensors/sender & flush coolant
    • Fit 16" Aero Wheels
    • Replace the clutch master cylinder with NOS part
    • Perform front end toe alignment
    • Remove & repair driver seat manual seat height adjuster
    • Locate a NOS Hella Passenger (RH) headlamp assembly
    • Install NOS front grill
    • Locate good condition "C Pillar" panels

    - I love these old 9000's, so easy to work on -

    WANTED ITEMS:

    • RH (Passenger) NOS Hella Headlamp Assembly
    • Rear Louvers with hardware
    • Hatch Glass Pull-Up Shades (2 side by side)
    • Three Part 85' Only Trunk Spoiler
    • Any Rare options for 85/86 MY
    • Anything NOS for an 86' 9000
    • Dash Vents (knobs are crumbling from age)

I have the rear louvers sitting at my parents place, we were cleaning out my old bosses garage and he had it thrown on the scrap pile so I took it home with me. I have the upper hinge strip/hardware but no lower feet, should be easy enough to fab up something though. Shoot me a note if you're interested. I'm sure my parents would love to start downsizing the parts stash for cars we don't own

Also - just threw these on @ lunch today - thoughts?

There are 4 15" stockers in the truck - it sags normally - just not THAT much. Front end looks like a sky-jacker lift lol

I think it looks really good. Always liked those wheels on that vintage of 9000. Now all you need are louvers and an Airflow Kit.

Thanks! I had an airflow kit (well - Carlsson Kit) and I sold it a few years ago. I just want to have a rather stock and clean looking 86' 9000 with some fancy accessory things.

That was kinda what I did with my '95 CSE, jazzed it up with a few accessories... '98 CSE wheels, accessory mud guards, bridge spoiler. Made it unique but not over the top.

I may have a headlight for you... new, never installed... need to check storage to confirm it's the right side. Could you snap a picture of the dash vents you need? I should have some of those, too.

ALL of them needed for dash vents.... will post picture later. Thanks

    Later:

Not mine - but same dash. I need the Left, the Center and the far right - although i believe the far right is part of the glove box - so to start off, the left and center would be good.

An ad from 2/15/12 has a louvers (ooops, looks like you found them). Nothing else you really want unless it's a Carlsson kit (ooops, looks like you won't). So, I guess you can ignore this whole post.

Boy - that Carlsson kit is BEAT! If that thing was in 1/2 the shape my old kit was in I'd consider it based on it being the right color - but damn. Nice find - at least most of his prices are close to reality.

I'm not sure what wheels these are, but I've seen them on a lot of Carlssons. Maybe a bit too sporty, but I like them more than what you've currently have on (I do love those wheels on the new 9000's though).

Side question, what were the years of the face-lifts for the 9000? It underwent two, right?

15 and 16" Versions of those wheels were available. The 15" wheels came on the US Spec 9000 Griffin Edition 9000's circa 1992. I've seen the 16" versions once or twice - they are ubber rare. I have a set of the 15" ones from a junk yarded Griffin model which I ran as my snows on my 1995 9000 previously.

I could see getting those on the car - but I don't know..... The 16" wheels have their benifits over the 15" wheels....

    As for generations;
1985-1988 First Generation (Bull Nose or Flat Nose)
    1989-1992 Second Generation (Slant Nose)
1993-1998 Third Generation (The Lumina Years)
