    was a 9.5 aero now a Saab Turbo X

Saab 900 Turbo Enduro only built for Australia

Here is a very rare 1980 900 Saab special with some history , these cars were named the Turbo Enduro and were a special build and only 12 built in Australia, of the original 12 there may now be only 5 in existence. The latest SCCA Saab editions magazine had an article on these 175 HP performance built specials, with their muscular appearance from their flared guards, housing 7.5 X 15 Simmons wheels and tuned for performance. l walked into my dealers workshop and here is a Saab Turbo Enduro on the floor in full rally kit and been garaged and off the road for many years, a fuel tank clean out a bit of Saab mechanical Luuuuuuurv and this beast absolutely roared into life with a side exit race exhaust.... was last seen many years ago in Tasmania and is been prepared for display for the 2011 Targa in Tasmania. Sorry about the phone camera photos but l could not pass up the opportunity to have a record of this unique Saab

These are quite interesting and good looking. Those rear wheel arches remind of the old Renault 5 Turbo.

Hi everyone, I'm just new here.

I've just picked up and own the blue Enduro shown, and used to own another white version (similar to Mark's from Canberra) that is now sold-on to another party.

Here is mine coming home the other day. It's completely drivable and currently has 12 months registration on it. Given this, I'm driving it around for as long as I can as a daily driver before restoration next year.

Thanks for the reference to the red one being prepared on the hoist. I'd not seen photos of this one before.

    Cheers Dave

Here's my original one that I'd owned for eight years and which was sold just the other week. I believe that it will be restored and entered into Targa Tasmania as an actual competitor.

That's four. I suspect that there is one more still in one piece somewhere.

Awesome - there is a member on TSL who is nearly obsessed with these particular c900's - and with reason.

If you browse my "Random c900 Picture Album" here: Picasa Web Albums - Jeff - Random 900 Ph...# You will see more pictures of that blue one shown above and a few more of others I have found over the years. Would be nice if one of those made in over to this side of the pond

How about pictures of an Owners Manual?

Not much - but still neat!

Omaroo, how much did you have to pay for the new Enduro? I reckon for something so rare they must be pretty expensive!!
Ask me a question about your c900! I promise I either can answer it or know someone who can

Ohhh... we don't like to talk about money. It's not about how much they cost, it's more about their place in Saab history.

The Targa Tasmania is in April but I didn't see any entry details for this Saab 900 Enduro yet. Hopefully it's still going to make it.

Not completely sure whether it was being prepared as a race vehicle or support. Maybe they came across issues or something. I'll endeavour to find out...

    Hi Mike

Well, I sold my Marble White one because I didn't think that I'd ever have adequate time and resources to do its rebuild justice in the short term - so I made sure that that it went to someone who most definitely did.

    That was on a Thursday.

The following Saturday (I kid you not) the original owner of my Aquamarine Blue one contacted me out of the blue after 8 years and offered me that car. It's in generally better condition than the Marble White, so I figured that I couldn't let it go because I'd never, ever, see another - so the deal was done and my interest was completely re-kindled once more. The Aquamarine one is now on the road and doing great. I had a realy top day in it the other day with the Saab Club here in Sydney, and found out what the extra 9 inches of rear and 4 of front track does to the cornering through the twisties. Wow... the day is described here:

Awesome Saab club cars come out to play in Oz

Almost... the bloke I bought mine from (8 years apart) owned both of them first... Lucky thing - he'd had them from new! I can't begin to imagine the buzz it would have caused when he and his wife turned up in them at events.
