    Dead Saab, need help!

Two weeks ago I purchased a 2002 9-5 Aero. Single owner, 80,000 miles, very clean with all service records since new. A few days after bringing it home the car lost power when accelerating to pass, and the CEL came on. Read codes P0116, P1312, P1334, P1302, and P0302. Next day the car lost power again when I took it out for a test drive. Pulled over, and the car died and would not start again. I replaced the coolant temp sensor and thermostat to address the P0116 code. Also replaced the DIC, spark plugs, crank shaft position sensor, fuel filter, and air filter. Still no luck... the car turns over but won't start. Any suggestions would definitely be appreciated. The closest saab shop to me is an hour away so I'd love to save the trouble of loading it on a trailing and taking it in... thanks!

You are on the right path so far. Have all these lights resulted at once or one after another? Have you used the correct NGK spark plugs?

Engine Cranks - Does NOT start - do you have fuel pressure to the rail? If no fuel pressure ensure a good signal from the CPS and check all fuses. Then check for power @ the fuel pump. If all is good (aside no fuel pressure) - your fuel pump is dead.

Thanks for the advice. I'll check the pressure at the rail tomorrow. How do I check the signal from the CPS?

    pending all fuses are good....

Listen for the fuel pump to prime with the key on - and then listen for it to turn on again when cranking. This is the easiest without any scan tools or test lights. As for checking the connector - you would just measure ohms to make sure the new sensor isn't OL - aside from that a new sensor should be good.

Ok, I've checked all of the fuses and they're good. Hooked up a fuel pressure tester to the rail, and I'm seeing zero pressure when I turn the car on, and zero pressure when I crank the car. I didn't hear the pump at first, but I can hear it running after taking the cover off under the seat. Its not very loud, but I can definitely hear it. Brand new CPS, brand new DIC, brand new, correct plugs. Could the pump be operating, but too weak due to wearing out? Also, could the new fuel filter be causing a loss of pressure? I checked for leaks and didn't see any...

The fuel system seems like a rather basic setup. Could it have something to do with the fuel pressure regulator? I am not a mechanic so I am just guessing.

    Fuel system (petrol/gasoline) - Saab 9-5

I know the fuel filter should be mounted in the right direction of the fuel flow but I don't know what will happen if it is mounted the wrong way.

To me it sounds like a bad fuel pump based on your zero pressure readings....
