| Description |
| I nicknamed my car Prongs because the roofrack, go-anywhere attitude, and rugged appearance remind me of a stag with a full rack of antlers. I use it mainly for a ski vehicle in the winter, and do most of my repairs while bike-commuting to work in the summer. It outperforms my work truck, a 4-cylinder pickup, and is great in snow. The rust is starting in places, but it remains a fairly sane choice as a daily driver, considering its advanced age. As long as I continue to keep mechanical problems at bay, it'll last another 6 years before needing rust repairs. Produced in mid-'86, so technically this car should be a 1987 according to some of its parts, it was quickly assembled and purchased at the factory by a U.S. air force pilot. He imported it from Sweden to the USA the next year. Fast-forward to 2006, and it fell into my hands because this (retired) pilot was my neighbor and I needed a car. I crashed it a month later, and taught myself mechanics to fix it. And it's all downhill from there. I've driven it across the USA about 5 or 6 times, and I fix/modify it myself. I've tried to keep the modifications tasteful and not too over-the-top, considering this car is basically a bone-stock N/A. To be honest, it's about enough power for my purposes anyway. For functional upgrades, my car has some extra gauges and a new cooling system to its name, as well as type-8 primaries, bigger exhaust from a 900t16, and vented brake discs in place of the old solid ones in the front. My favorite part of this car is the high rear springs and mudflaps I put on in Washington state when I lived there. Other people lower their cars, but this c900 was raised. It is almost like a crossover SUV, but is more efficient, can haul more, and is much more fashionable. In the name of cosmetics and collecting rare C900 parts, I have reconditioned and installed an air-dam and grill from an '83 turbo. I also have a gear knob with the green "E" on it next to 5th, a set of rare in-dash element speakers with Phillips tweeters, and a re-done headliner in charcoal grey. The sun has also upgraded my interior to a certain degree. The seats are purple due to UV fade, though they used to be black. All in all, it's a well-sorted c900. I can't say it's awesome, but it's not terrible either. |
