Description
I was at a Saab dealer where I checked out a a few 9-3s, including new ones. This was when I was living in California. After doing a lot of research and reading about the cars and brand, I ordered my new Saab through Saab's European Delivery Program. The details can be found on my blog here at SaabWorld. So that's how this Saab thing started for me.

This was definitely a Saab that had traveled many different countries and places in Europe and North America. The countries visited were Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, United Kingdom and of course the USA. Places visited in the USA were mostly Southern California, San Franciso, Yosemite and Death Valley.

This was a great car but I couldn't stop thinking about the available V6, more equipment, sportier handling and the SportCombi versatility. Year-end deals on new, different and faster Saabs were very good in November so I decided to sell this car after owning it for about 6 months.. Sometimes, I wish I never got rid of it. But it's history now and the good memories still remain.

I only made a few small modifications to the car, namely euro bumper strips, new dash speakers and a new set of 17" Rial Nogaro wheels. I also installed a TomTom navigation system which fitted nicely in the lower dash.

The car was sold to CarMax in Irvine, CA and fetched $20,000. It had about 10K miles when I sold it. CarMax actually gave me a better price than the local Saab dealer where I bought my next Saab. I believe the car cost me about $26,000 with the EDP discount without the $2,000 travel expense reimbursement from Saab. And no rental car charges while in Europe for 3 weeks so that is probably at least another $1000 savings. Not a bad depreciation at all for a brand new car. And the memories and experience are priceless anyways.
