I was thinking of getting a Saab. I have finally admitted to myself that a Saab as a daily driver is no longer feasible for me. The new-to-me Saab would be a weekend car or a spare car. Candidates for that Saab would be one of two Saabs that I am familiar with.
1. 9-3 (9-3SS, 9440, 4 door), ideally 2005-2006 but 2003-2007 would be ok. The 2008 came with the big grill. The 2007 came with the new dashboard. 2003's had a bit of teething problems.
2. 900 (classic 900), ideally 1982 3 door fitted with H4 European spec lights or 1987-1990. 1991 and 1992 with the 2.1-16V may be ok. Plain, S, or turbo ok.
Just dreaming but maybe not as the Seattle area still has Saabs driving around. They are less common now but, in my opinion, are more commonly seen than Buicks, Saturns, Alfa Romeos, and Porsches. A few years ago, they used to be very common around here.
I would like to have a 9-3 convertible (latest generation) some day. You sometimes these with low miles in places like Florida.
I am most familiar with the first gen 9-5 though and can do many repairs and service on those myself. The 2004-2005 9-5 are the best years in my opinion. But those with reasonable miles are probably going to be hard to find.
Have been thinking about a Volvo with European Delivery. Would that be sacrilege as a previous Saab owner and supporter of the brand?? :) Just had such a good time with the Saab EDP and the 9-3 I picked up in Trollhattan.
Not sacrilege. People have to buy a new car sometimes. People have to pick among what is made. Saabs, like Saturn, Oldsmobile, and Plymouth, are no longer made.Quote:
