This was my second Saab within a year. Model year-end discounts were so good, I couldn't resist a new 9-3 Aero for more than $10K below MSRP. I can't remember the exact number but I think I paid about $28K out the door. I purchased from the same dealer group as my previous 9-3 but at their Santa Ana location. This was mid-November in 2006.
I kept the Rial Nogaro wheels of my other car and put the 5-spoke Aero wheels on the 2.0T before I sold it. The new 9-3 already had tinted windows installed by the dealer. I liked the look but it was a little bit too dark for me. I removed the tint after a few months which actually took a lot of work. Plenty of sticky residue from the tint film to clean up. But I liked it much better without the tint.
This car was amazing. The 250hp V6 had plenty of power and the lowered sport suspension made it feel like it was on rails. The SportCombi has much more usable space in the back and I liked the different look of a station wagon. There were several good trips in Southern California and to Nevada, Arizona and Utah.
I decided to move back from California to Michigan in May of 2007. I knew I was going to be without a job and income for a while and a newer car with monthly payments didn't really fit into that picture. I was in Las Vegas for a conference when I gave my notice to my employer. I sold the car for $25,000 to CarMax in Henderson, Nevada, not too far from Las Vegas. Not a bad depreciation at all. I rented a car nearby and drove back home to Foothill Ranch, CA. That was the end of that Saab. But wait! There is more.. the story continues with my next Saab in Michigan.

9-3's sold in the USA and Canada have orange lights and reflectors in the front bumper strips. Some 9-3 owners in the USA replace these with the standard black strips available in the rest of the world to give the front a cleaner look. Replacement is easy and only takes a few minutes.
