Saab 9-5 NG Electrical system, fuses
Rather than complicate the Earth Points thread, here is some more information on the Electrical System.
The first thing to be aware of is that the fuse descriptions in the drivers handbook are less than complete. I have compared the information with that from WIS and I will offer the following cautions:
Fuse 16 listed as Vacuum pump. Actually also covers the air quality sensor and water in fuel sensors
Fuse 21 listed as windows rear. WIS says Window motors front, be wary if you are working on the windows
Fuse 25 listed as Power outlets. This fuse appears to supply an accessory AC/DC power control module
Fuse 29 listed as Left power seat. WIS shows this as supplying the lumbar support, at 15A I would think the handbook is right but again be wary if working on the seats
Fuse 30 listed as Right power seat. WIS shows this as supplying the lumbar support
Fuse 52 listed as Ignition. WIS shows this Instrument cluster
Fuse 53 listed as ventilated front seats. WIS shows this as also covering Headlamp levelling actuators, inside rear view mirror and Tyre pressure module
Fuse 54 listed as Ignition. Actually the headlamp switch
Fuse 57 listed as Ignition. Steering lock control module
Fuse 60/61 listed as mirror heating, on my car it is not possible to fit two fuses in these positions, there are three holes but only two have terminals so the fuse is fitted in that position. Further information/photographs appreciated with vehicle details, especially the year.
Fuse 63 listed as Body control module. Glass breakage sensor
If you are working on a NG9-5 be particularly wary of the electrical system as the information supplied in both the handbook and WIS must be considered suspect until it can be confirmed. Anyone who doesn't have a copy of WIS is strongly advised to obtain a copy. If you don't know how to read a wiring diagram don't hesitate to ask.
