Not to be placed on the calendar, but coming up on March 30 is the 6th anniversary of the start of Saab slippage into history. After a promising showing of the Phoenix coupe at the Geneva Auto Show, on March 30, 2011, production stopped. It was just a hiccup but in a week, production was completely shut down. Some Cabriolet/Convertibles were hand built by ANA later and some trial runs of NEVS Saab 9-3 in 2012 but March 30 was the end of normal paced production. So sad.
Just a few days ago, I was opening a credit card account by phone and they asked me 3 questions to verify identity. These were probably gleaned from a credit report. What car have you driven....Audi A4, Honda Accord, Saab 900, etc. (correct answer was Saab, of course). The woman couldn't even pronounce "Saab". She said it like "Sabe" (rhymes with Abe). One day, saying you drove a Saab will be like saying you drove a Packard or a Simca.
If anyone is within a reasonable drive to Boston, this is a must. Went last year. Turnout and vendors were awesome, and the Larz Anderson Museum is worth the trip on it's own.
