    If you are keeping the car longer than say 5 years don't use Monroe's. I liked them but they didn't have longevity. On my wife's car they lasted about 5 years. Then I replaced them with Sachs.

    Can you buy a bolt with the same diameter/threads...

    Can you buy a bolt with the same diameter/threads as the tensioner and screw it in to clean the threads out? Then coat it down with some lubricant like white lithium grease to make it a smooth run in.
