Saab automobiles traveled across the U.S. in the Rand McNally "Best of the Road"® rally presented with media partner, USA TODAY.
Five two-person teams spent three weeks experiencing the best small towns in the United States in a mix of Saab vehicles as the final phase of Rand McNally's search to find "Best of the Road" and the best small towns in the United States along with media partner, USA TODAY. The winning team was awarded a Saab 9-4X crossover at the finale event in California on July 15.

Just Saab finally got a shipment of 4 9-4x's today so I had to go check them out.
When I arrived the only that I could get a look at was a top of the line Aero model. Two base models were in service getting prepped and the other Aero was on it's way to the Dayton, OH store. Sadly, the Aero I checked out wasn't prepped yet so I couldn't drive it, but I will be able to drive it or a base model on Wednesday.
Overall, I'm impressed with the car. The extra time it took to bring the 9-4 to market was a good thing. The materials used inside are as good as those found in the ...byPublished on 15 July 2011 17:22 Number of Views: 4656
This is an overall positive review from the guys at Autoweek in Detroit.
A few quotes from the review:
INTERACTIVE ASSOCIATE EDITOR JAKE LINGEMAN: The interior of the Saab is well done and comfortable, with a little sport thrown in for good measure. The seats are covered with perforated leather. There is good lower back support, good bolsters and it has that extra piece that slides up under your knees. It all makes for a comfortable driving position.
DIGITAL EDITOR ANDREW STOY: I also fell for the look of the car. It's got an almost French fuselage styling to it that reminds me of the Citroen SM. It's not pretty but it's uniquely stylish, and it updates ...byPublished on 15 July 2011 17:04 Number of Views: 4028
This is not a very positive review of the Saab 9-5 so proceed at your own risk. They usually have unbiased reviews and it seems they make some valid points in the video.
After 12 long years, Saab finally redesigned the 9-5 sedan. This new, sleeker 9-5 shares engines and underpinnings with the competent and enjoyable Buick LaCrosse and Regal, its former cousins at General Motors. But our testing shows that the 9-5 doesn't measure up to similarly priced competitors, or even those Buicks.
Competing against laudable sedans from Audi, BMW, Infiniti, Lexus, and Mercedes-Benz, there is a ...byPublished on 14 July 2011 14:06 Number of Views: 5500

This is a road trip in a Saab that many only can dream of. How about a rally covering 7,500 kilometers in 15 days and going through 10 countries? And the fun part is you can't use any electronic devices like GPS navigation systems so it is just the team, a car and a map.
This was the first year of this Baltic Sea Circle Rally and it took place in June. The rally started in Hamburg, Germany and ended 14 days later in Copenhagen, Denmark. Some cities visited along the way are Danzig, Kaliningrad, Tallinn, St. Petersburg, Helsinki and Nordkap. There are a few mentions of it on the German Saab forum and Facebook but I haven't found many details and experiences about the rally. But the pictures speak for themselves and are often more interesting than ...byPublished on 13 July 2011 19:01 Number of Views: 7311

The battery company Boston-Power released a short video of the Saab 9-3 E-power driven during the Almedalsveckan in Sweden. After 1,5 years, they have reached the first verification phase, and regular people are now testing the car in normal traffic. The Saab Owners Convention 2011 is going to be held in Parsippany, New Jersey this year. The event is only 32 miles from New York City so there are many other things to do in the area. Special group rates are available for $111 per room for 2 people which includes breakfast. Reservations can be made through the hotel website: link. Please note the special rate is only going to be available until July 28th or when the block of rooms is sold out.
Registration has been open for a while and closes on August 07. While I can't remember the amount for last year, it appears it is significantly less this year at $140 for an adult ticket. This includes meals, an SOC 2011 T-shirt, sticker and lapel pin. Included meals are the ...byPublished on 11 July 2011 15:32 Number of Views: 3014
These pictures were posted on the Dutch Saab forum. They were taken in a small village between Vara and Skara. As you can see on the map, it is only about 50 kilometers from Trollhattan.
It's a bit sad to see these old Saabs in a deteriorating state but it also has some artistic still-life quality to it.

Somewhere up northern Europe, in Sweden, near the Norwegian border, out in the middle of nowhere, there is the amazing old car graveyard. Drive for miles after miles on muddy forest roads to reach this amazing place in the middle of nowhere. There is no sign giving you direction.
Hundreds upon hundreds of decaying cars from the 40's, 50's 60's and 70's are scattered around you. You can see how nature takes back the man-made. Two brothers lived here for many years, it all started in the fifties, people was aloud to scrap their cars on the two brothers property, they ...
