I'm glad this post came up. It solved the mystery of, at least for 2009, which cars were sold with the 280 horsepower V-6. It turns out the Aero vert was. I was talking to our salesperson just three days ago and I asked him for 08 and 09 which cars had the 280 engine and if there were any residual 255 horse say, like in the convertible. He couldn't remember which now, looking at the line of trim, names and options is understandable. At first since he was "Mister Saab Performance" I was surprised but now understand after seeing it in print.
That said, I wonder if the Aero convertible was the quickest production Saab?Semper ubi sububi in caput tuum

But the only production SS with the 280 horse engine are the XWD, which are 2,788 pounds.
The Aero vert also has the 280 and while probably limited by chassis so I wonder if the 2,700 pounds of the vert versus the 2788 of the sedan would cancel out.Semper ubi sububi in caput tuum

Mercy Wulf, another bump. This should be a sticky since it explains so much.

They had a designer from Ferrari and couldn't make anything come of it, what a shame.
Too bad GM thought the recipe for success was to re-badge Chevy, Cadillac, and Subaru's. Why does an SUV have to be only route to success for a car company? If they could have held on long enough to build some of these beautiful designs, things could have turned out differently.
