    Iridium plugs for a 204i N/A ???

Hi, I took my BCP5EVX plugs out of my car and asked the salesman to order some in, He sold me BCPR7S and told me they were the same and to gap them at 1.1
Upon research, and help from Oscuro and others, I realise he is very wrong, my car should be gapped at 0.7 with the BCP5EVX. (X is iridium). He refused to admit he was wrong and walked away.

But why the iridium plugs for a non turbo engine?
Were iridium plugs even around in 1997 when the engine was made?

The iridiums are $19 per plug, the standards are $5 per plug.

This is the information from the WIS. Doesn't mention any iridium plugs either.

Thanks Frank, So do you think my B204i N/A would have the same plugs as the B206i? Mine is Motronic with a Dizzy.

I cant seem to even order the BCP5EV without the resistor built into the plug (BCPR5EV). Do you reckon that matters?

Isn't your engine more like the B234i? I am not very familiar with the Saab 900 engines but it seems like NGK and eEuroparts here in the US suggest the BCP6ES or BCPR6ES for your engine. I really have no idea if the resistor or non-resistor plugs make a difference or have any effect at all for your engine.

Hi Frank, It seems like you are the pivotal force of this website.

I have been a visitor for a longtime.

Now I want a 9-3 coupe of my own.

This website does not really accommodate Europe or Aussies,

I think my engine is more similliar to the B206i.

But your correspondence is always helpful.

(I will go with the BCP5EV) as your prior correspondence.

I hope to purchase a 9-5 for my wife soon.

I have learnt lots regarding the clutch cable and cooling systems on the 900s and look forward to helping out many saab enthusiasts in the future when I have time to soberly post.
