    1. Fit the retracting cover together with the indication display. The matted side of the indication strip should face up.

    2. Press on the indication display.

    3. Assemble the selector lever casing: http://saabworld.net/showthread.php?t=667

    4. Fit the edging around the indication display.

    Hi Wulf,

Trying to replace my 9-5's jalousie. Followed your posts and excellent disassembly instructions, so far so good. Replacement part scheduled to arrive on Monday.

But I can't, for the life of me, find where to get a hold of the colored indicator strip (#3 in the disassembly picture, #2 in the reassembly picture above). The only sites I've found that list it by part number (4777553 and/or 4777546) all say "not available." Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!!!

It appears that part is not available separately, according to the EPC. I wonder if you can only get it as part of the light box #25.

Perhaps your best bet is to find it an junk yard.

I was afraid of that. I called a few "dismantler" places and the ones that had the whole light box assembly available were quoting $150 or so. Rather a lot to spend for just that piece of plastic. I guess I'll keep calling around and see if I can find it in one of those "pull your part" places.

    Thanks for responding so quickly.

p.s. If anyone reading this board has one of these they'd be willing to part with, please let me know.

Quick question - - how do you initially release the plastic housing (Remove the edging around the indication display.)

Frank, new member here and first post! After I pull the trim cover off, do I need to remove any screws or anything else to get into my existing broken jalousie? Also...When you made the "cut"...how easy was it to insert the jalousie into its "track" system with the shifter in place?
Many thanks for guidance - going to tackle replacement tomorrow.

    Jalousie Dilemna!!!

OK...I need the straight up honest-to-g** truth here...DO I NEED TO REMOVE ALL OF THE SHIFTER HARDWARE ETC to replace my Jalousie...or can I "snip" and slide in with little effort or potential issues???? All suggestions - thanks in advance! Any historical success with either methods? Speak to me before I rip 'er apart!

It's easy to dismantle the shift lever casing . I did it on mine not too long ago by following the WIS instructions: http://saabworld.net/f29/selector-lever-retracting-cover-indication-strip-automatic-workshop-information-system-666/

It may take an extra 5 minutes. Snipping the jalousie will probably work as well but I rather do things right when it only requires little extra work.
