    Engine light is on

    Hey Guys, as usual, engine light is on and also that gear on the right with the exclamation mark. I heve nor run OBD becouse the car is in a German dealership and I am thinking of buying it. It is a 10/1999 9-5 2.2 Turbo Aero.
    Any help is welcomed!!!!!

    Avoid to buy a car with gearbox issues it's always expensive to repair or if you want absolutely buying this car i can sell to you a 4 steps ¨gearbox with 140'000 on it(old peoples car so in good shape ) PM me if interested

    I agree with swisssaabist. Engine and gearbox problems at that mileage can be very expensive to fix. Especially when you don't know what the codes are. You would think any dealership would have an OBD2 scanner so perhaps they know what the problems are and just not telling you.

    Walk away! It isn't worth the effort, even if you do know the codes they only tell you what the sensors are reporting, some seemingly minor codes can actually point to very expensive faults. If it is any help, the idle is high, looks like 950 rpm and it should be nearer 800 rpm, suggesting a possible air leak, which could be the cause of the warning but I wouldn't risk it.

    Actually the idle speed looks normal. I have 4 Saab’s and 900plus rpm is normal. That might be a bit high but would not concern me. All Saab’s run a plus 900 idle.
    this is a dealer car. You can buy it after they fix it. It could be minor

    I've had nine over nearly 30 years and none of then had a hot idle of 900 rpm

    I agree, if they will fix it it may be worth considering, but I doubt they will want to spend any money on a high mileage car.
