Saab is running great this evening

Well, it looks like some threads will come back ...

Driving my Saab home this evening, it felt like ... wow!
It pulled like crazy, like it hasn't in sometime.
No hesitation at any point, just foot down and off it was going!

Sort of like the "old dog acting like a pup" ... you know what I'm talking about.

I always have that feeling after an oil change or other maintenance. The new DIC added at least 5hp as well.

    Thing is ... I haven't done anything.
Not even the installation of my new wheels.

I wish it behaved like this all the time.
And I wish I could figure out why it does only sometimes so I could make it do it all the time.

My car can be temperamental (it's a "she"). Some days I hardly touch the throttle and it has that "springy bouncy" feel when the car runs like a champ. Other days car feels sluggish and hesitant.

I suspect it's a combination of fuel quality, ambient temperature, ambient humidity and air pressure that contribute to this. Of the four, I suspect fuel quality is a big factor.

I only use Shell gas, but 70% of the time on 87 octane, 20% time on 89, and 10% of the time on 91 (when prices are lower). But even between different Shell gas stations I seem to notice a difference. I'm starting to log the actual station when I fill up, and am already starting to suspect the good ones from the bad ones. It ain't scientific, like how well the car runs, but it's a start.

I just had my Saab moment when taking it for a short drive at lunch. Mid 70s with overcast sky and slightly humid. A quiet, smooth, twisty country road. The turbo was hungry for air, transmission on Sport for that extra kick in the back and the sound system filled the cabin with Jean Michel Jarre's Aero. I swear the griffin on the steering wheel had a grin on its face.
