The long story about automotive forums

Facebook probably.. perhaps forums are a thing of the past. Others move one, loose interest in Saab or are just tired of forums in general. I hardly visit any other forums anymore either and don't really care to help others when a big company is profiting from it.

With the recent acquisition of an Xterra, I've been looking for a Nissan/Xterra forum. The first one I joined seemed great (www.theXterra.org) but after a WhoIs look up, it turns out they are owned by the enemy! Couldn't go there. So that started a search, and it was surprisingly hard to find an Xterra forum that is owned by an enthusiast and relatively active. Xterra Firma | ...the evolution and travels of the Nissan Xterra and Xterra Nation being my two choices. I'll float around both for a bit and see what one I like better. But I certainly ain't contributing to a Vertical Scope owned forum... sorry NewX.

I recently got interested in watches and the enthusiast forum I frequented has now been taken over by Verticalscope. I pretty much gave up participating in any forum these days because they either are owned by a for-profit company or will be soon.
