About Equalizers
As people who think 80's things are cool, Sam and I have been working to figure out the wiring pin-outs for the original EQ/spectrum analyzers. While I've figured out the '88+ pin-out and have been using the spectrum analyzer function in conjunction with my modern Pioneer cd player, I'd really like to retrograde to an '86-87 unit.
Sam got one and, after having little success with it, he passed it onto me. I'm of a belief that it was fried before either of us got it. Does anyone happen to have a known working '86-'87 EQ that they would straight-up trade for an '88? I'd like to do a formal write-up on this, as people have asked about them in years past, but I'd like to have data on both styles first.

I may have a working equalizer, though I don't really know. It was still installed in my SPG though it was defeated (Alpine deck install)
If you could give me some preliminary pinouts I'd be happy to give it a 12v and see if it powers on. Don't need a trade though

I'm currently on a business trip so am not sure what the corresponding DIN pins are, but if you open out up, I knorr for fact that 12v to the blue wire ( and chassis ground) will light up the buttons. I believe, but not positive, that 12v to, both, yellow and red is main power. (memory & switched power)
Thanks

Did you happen to get to this last night?

Sorry, no I didn't. Spent all night getting my workshed in shape enough that I could walk through it and actually get to my test bench. No light in it yet (it's recently built) so I had to call it quits after dark
It's first on my list of things to do this evening, right after I water the new lawn

Put it on the bench last night and it's dead. I'm going to repair it

Good luck, I suspect the main processor on this one is bad, hopefully something simpler for you.

I have a few of these old units and would love to know how to use them with a modern head-unit. Please keep us posted.
