what is this hose?
My 06 9-3 Aero is still idling and running really rough. Haven't had a chance to get the CEL read. Just noticed this hose popped off from the intake. Appears a nipple on the end of the part on the intake cracked off into the hose. Anyone know what exactly it is? Looks like it comes from a boost control solenoid (at least that's what my old DSM BCSs looked like) or something right off of the turbo. Capping either end off does nothing to smooth out the idle so I'm guessing it has nothing to do with my issues.

Anders is a registered user at Saabworld but is currently occupied fixing a car. He's kind enough to answer, though....
It is the boost pressure control valve system. That plastic pipe is part of the whole intake hose (P/N 12790715 $77.90), but if you are careful, you can dig out the plastic nipple and insert a generic one of proper size.
The proximity to the hot turbo melts that nipple on all of them and I replace them when I see it.
And, as he says, it doesn't seem to affect much when that hose and nipple is broken since the car boost normal and no check engine light comes on. I think that third hose is a secondary vent hose for boost valve to allow waste gate air to bleed off into air intake tube when it is not engaged.
Thanks to Anders, who can be found at Swedecar, an independent garage near Los Angeles at 22634 Normandie Ave. Unit A, Torrance, CA 90502, (310) 328-1731.Last edited by Dave T; 15 March 2011 at 18:08.
