What are you listening to?
Yeah.. It's time for the obligatory off topic thread. We have a music video thread, but what we can't watch music videos all the time.
What are a few bands that you've been digging lately?
I've fallen in love with a band called Scale the Summit from Austin, Texas. They're an instrumental prog-metal quartet with insane chops and a real ear for melody. They just released a new album "The Collective" on March 1, and I can't stop listening to it. I just saw them and I was completely blown away. Really cool guys, too. I was able to meet two of the band members (Jordan Eberhardt is my new bass idol) and they were really down to earth.
Amazing musicianship. This is stuff you just don't hear on the radio. Do take a listen.

It does sound hard to play, but the only experience I have with that is Guitar Hero and not very much of that! A pleasant listen, for sure.
I have been listening to british girls of various types all winter:
La Roux:

I wish she (and more importantly her synth player!) would come out with more stuff.
Lily Allen is fun too:

I like a smattering of Top Forty songs, but usually only if they have lots of synth. Because I am a junkie for upbeat, sharp, complex synth.
As for obscurer music, how about some mashup artistry?

At this very moment?
New Edition: Once In A Lifetime Groove
Wait, that just ended. Now:
Babyface: It's No Crime
Before those-
Ralph Tresvant: Angel
I'm all over the place with my tastes. I can go from (for example) The Temptations to Anthrax to Jodeci to Smashing Pumpkins to NWA to Budgie in one sitting. Very little from after 2000 or so though.

+1 on Lily Allen!
I wanted to like La Roux but I can't get over her homely face and even homiler voice.

Here's what I listen to. Or what I would be listening to if I had a way to get anything more than AM/FM in the car right now
Broadcast - Come on Let's Go
dZihan & Kamien - Ford Transit
Norah Jones - Broken
And others. My music ranges from ABBA to ZZ Top. I have about 450 Gb of music I've collected over the years from all across the globe

I can listen to just about anything except opera and hardcore rap.
Back in the 80's our local hard rock radio station used to play classical music on Sunday mornings. It was nice to wake up to when you've got a hangover.
Currently in the CD changer I've got Kid Rock, Metallica(rules!), D-A-D(Danish rock band), John Mellencamp(Hoosier daddy), Billy Joel and some Hank Jr.
