It's not bad, just have to ensure that the arm goes over the peg on the hall sensor plate. Unless you're really ham-fisted, I don't think you can screw that up.

So you can remove/reinstall the Hall effect solenoid without removing the dizzy (and associated junk) per the Bentley?

The hall sensor doesn't have to come out, just the vacuum canister, with 2 phillips screws.

You're getting good advice from drw here. Swapping to a water-cooled turbo won't give you sharper spool-up per se, although I am a great fan of the low inertia Mitsu TE05. It is good for 300bhp and really sharp under your foot. A water-cooled turbo is generally more long-lived and durable than a non wc and requires requires less tlc, but it won't give you sharper response just because it's wc. The APC mods are worth doing. I've done them myself, but you appear to be lacking in confidence regarding your ability to tackle this, although with a logical approach it's OK, but does require a bit of trial and error. Start off with the dizzy mod. It's really easy with only a couple of pozi screws holding it on. You don't need to take the dizzy apart at all, although removing the cap does make it easier. The extra advance you can dial in can give quite significant improvement at the low end and as the turbo comes in. Good luck - Paul

Yeah the APC mods I'm more willingtl to tackle than the dizzy mod. I build pcbs for a living so soldering a couple mohm resistors doesn't scastellanos me. Breaking that vacuum solenoid again does, it's the only one I have left

Wow I really should check my spelling more often when posting from my phone. What is a scastellanos?
Either way, I'll give it a shot
