Bouncy Spedo dead Odo, Options? 87 900
Odo shows 200K, Speedo bounces all over the place.
Are there rebuild kits?

I'd check the cable first. They're lubricated with oil, and sometimes get gummed up. I put some 3 in 1 down mine a while ago and it helped a bit with bouncing.
If it's the odometer itself you might have better luck just replacing it or sending it to an authorized VDO guy to see whats going on. Should cost about 100 bucks. Check out speedometer.com. Maybe give them a call.

Bouncy needle is 99% failing cable. Oil may help a bit but it's going to go completely soon and it's more difficult to remove if it's gone completely. I've heard speedometer.com are good but since you'll have it out just put a good used one in.

That's the dilemma I had with my SPG. Finding a good used speedo with a working odometer is a bit of a PITA, especially since you have to yank one from another car, I reasoned that it would be easier to pull the one I have, rebuild it, and put it back in because everything will already be apart. That way you know it's good and it hopefully won't stop working on you anytime soon.
I have a known working speedo cable if you're interested, too. Came off a car with 88k.

I'll have a cluster with a working odo up for sale shortly. Shows 205k +/-

I have a spare cluster with 120K on it. Thinking of disassembly to see how it works and potentially fails.
Do you have to change the entire cable assembly or can you just put in a new drive wire?

You should be able to pull the drive-flex out from the speedo-head behind the speaker grill without touching the outer. You can do it from the gearbox end. Take your choice.
