Oil leaking on right side of engine (when facing the front of car)

    Hello SAAB World,

I mean when sitting looking out of the widshield, facing front of car...

Are there any common areas that leak oil only on the serpentine belt side of the car?

I have a leak which I was told by a Mechanic is coming from the crankshaft seal, but he was eyeballing it while looking down into the engine. I looked at it yesterday for a while and it seems more like it may be coming from the tensioner or one of the pulleys.

    Are there any other possibilities?

    Thanks.

i was going to replace the rocket gasket when I found the culprit was the oil filler cap ring

after replacing the oil ring no more oil leaks after one year.

Thanks for the reply, but, that doesn't apply to my situation. The oil is coming from middle or lower of the engine. I was told that the crank seal is common and it throws the oil all over that side (right side) of the engine, so it looks like that's the issue... Now to figure out how to repair it lol.

look on the right side at the brake vacuum pump. i had same issue. the pump can be faulty or the seal between the pump and engine. costs around $200 new at dealer.

this is how the pump looks like: Saab Vacuum Pump (2003-2011 9-3 Sport Sedan)(4Cyl), Saab USA Parts.com
it's on the right inner corner of engine.

The vaccum pump is located on the right side of the car when sitting in the driver seat facing the windshield?

On another note, I got the oil leaking resolved, it was my Crank Seal.

nope. as you are looking at the car, from the front towards the back... it's on the right side of the engine. (towards the left of the car)
