Clear Time for Service message on SID

This should be easy, right? I hold the Clear button for a few seconds, the SID chimes and shows Cleared. But when I restart the car, the message shows up again. What am I missing?

It'll just go away in a week. My "TIME FOR SERVICE" message did at least.

I thought you hold it for it to say "CLEARED" and then keep holding for until another beep. No?

Both J-Rod and Shazam gave correct answers. I also looked it up in the WIS and added to the FAQ: Clear Service Message

And I made another fascinating video of the entire process which can be seen in that same post.

    Thanks!

Or until a certain number of starts... whatever one of those three things comes first.
