Got the smile back. Need a 9004 bulb, considering HID Kit from Ebay.

Anybody using HID in a C900

Not perfectly symmetrical but I suppose the body shop can get it a bit closer.

I got a ("universal") HID kit on eBay for my NG900. It gives me some trouble here and there. Connections get loose, and now I get condensation in my lenses because I had to cut part of the housings, leaving them no longer sealed. If I were to do it again, I wouldn't. My brother got a different one made for his Jetta and he loves it. His is higher quality, and a direct fit.

Yes, I've used HID on my 900. There are good ones and bad ones. Some of the early Chinese ones had a couple of faults. In the UK we use H4 bulbs and the hi/lo solenoid in the lamp mechanism did not have sufficient travel to put the light source in the right position for accurate beam pattern. The second deficiency was the bulb shield did not expose enough of the light source in main beam to give a decent light throw on our classic reflector and lens. I now have sourced some 55w watt HID which have correct solenoid travel and after some work on the bulb shield the now give fantastic light output with decent beam pattern. I am very pleased with these and am getting another pair for my other 900. This is what I used; H4 Maximum Power Bi-Xenon HID headlight conversion kit: HIDs 4U
I must stress that the bulb shield will probably need some modification whatever your setup, but the result is very satisfying.

My car had H-4's in it as it was delivered in Belgium and driven in Europe for a few years before being shipped to the states.

I had to install housings from a 91 so my bulbs are now 9004's.

When you mention solenoid does it actually move the bulb in and out?

Yes, it moves the bulb in and out to simulate the two positions of the dipped beam filament and the main beam filament, because the HID light source is permanently illuminated when the lights are on, and it performs both functions. I am not sure of the setup you have in the US but in the UK we have twin filament bulbs which illuminate for the two lighting conditions. The dipped filament which is forward of the main filament has a mask around the lower half of the bulb so that the main beam part of the reflector is shielded. You can see that the accuracy of these two positions is very important for satisfactory operation. Also the shape of the mask is very important for full illuminate on main beam. Now I've modified mine I'm extremely pleased with the setup.

BTW, I love the name Threepwood. It is what I would name a car if I had more of my grandmother's creative genes.
