OBD-II data logger
In the Saab 9-3 Wheeler Dealers episode, they talked about a USB data logger you can plug into the OBD-II port and record vehicle data as you drive. And this data can be downloaded to a computer and shows all kinds of interesting graphs and data.
Is anyone familiar with these? Any recommendations?

Here is one for US$ 80.
Amazon.com: Davis Instruments 8226B CarChip Pro (New Model): Automotive
The Davis Instruments CarChip Pro records vehicle trip and performance data, providing a detailed history of driver performance and vehicle operation. The CarChip Pro also provides additional vehicle monitoring capabilities including the logging of specific engine data parameters and detailed "accident" data for all sudden stops. It can also emit an audible alarm whenever a driver exceeds user-determined speed limits. Using the included CarChip software, you can view logged data in summary, record, plot, or table formats and also export it to other applications. It easily plugs into your car’s On-Board Diagnostics (OBD-II) port and is compatible with most passenger cars and light trucks manufactured since 1996.

USB Data Logger
Can anyone recommend a data logger for my 2005 Saab 9-3 Diesel Automatic? I just bought one to use as a company car and want to keep on top of all potential issues that may arise!

Morning Frank. Ive done a bit of research on this particular bit of kit. Seems to be the best on the market. I've emailled the manufacturer to see if its compatible with my 2005 Saab. If so I'll definitely be ordering one as I'll be using my Saab as a company car. Will keep you posted.

I've had for years a Launch brand - Model CRecorder.
Info - Car running data Recorder
It works like a black box - in event of a CEL or fault - it will record the before, during and after engine data - the code it sets and then you load it all to your PC to review. Works great for those hard to diagnose intermittent CEL problem cars.European Motor Services, LLC - Point Pleasant, PA 18950 - www.europeanmotorsvc.com

Hey Jeff. This looks pretty good. Have you used the remote diagnosis on this bit of kit?

Yes - 1996 = OBD2
I know the Launch CRecorder works on Saabs - but NOT Saturns. lolEuropean Motor Services, LLC - Point Pleasant, PA 18950 - www.europeanmotorsvc.com
