Mirror Triangles?
First off, I recently found out about this forum and the sale of Saabcentral and just joined today. Thanks to Wulf for his time and effort in setting this up.
So in my first post here I have a question regarding my 2004 9-5 Aero.
Lately the black triangles (which I until now thought were plastic, but actually are painted metal) have started chipping in the forward corner and looking really ugly.
(In the pictures below they don't stand out as much and look as ugly as in real life)
Crappy cell phone pics (click for larger):
My plan is to take them off and either replace thm (if cheap enough and available) or sand them down and spray paint them).
1.) Does anyoe know how to get them off. It is non-obvious to me.
2.) Does anyone ahve a part number for these? Are they affordable or ridiculous?
3.) If I go the painting route, does anyone recommend a certain paint for black trim parts?
Much obliged,
Matt

Hey Matt, nice to see you here.
It appears it is part of the mirror base cover. EPC shows part number for #7: LH: 46 07 750 and RH: 46 07 768. However, it also shows 1998-2002 even though I looked it up for the 9-55 MY04. It looks like you have to remove the mirror before you can get to it. Instructions are in the WIS or I can post them here if you don't have it.

Oh wait, it seems you need #1 for MY 2003 - 2007 and it lists many different part numbers.

My wife's 9-3 has the same issue. I will be doing the same thing to her car later this month (next weekend is finally time for my breaks). I believe I read the finish/paint is called plasti-coat. I will be testing the plasti-coat finish on my door pulls before I pull her mirrors off. I will keep an eye on this thread, and update if you have not finished the project already.
