I miss all my Saabs. When I bought this 9-5, my previous Saab was a 2006 Saab 9-3. I never really liked the 9-5 before but figured to give one a try anyways. The 9-3 and 9-5 are very different vehicles. Especially the earlier model years of the 9-5 have a great feel of quality. Both interior and exterior. The leather was soft and smelled wonderful and this was just a great combination with the wooden interior bits. And I really like that Sun Green color as well.

It had a few issues like engine surging, had the oil slush issue, needed turbo replacement and a few other repairs. This 2001 was replaced with 2005 9-5 Aero. Still good interior quality but the 2001 was even better.

Sorry about the V40 seeking some exposure with the OG estate and NG saloon.
Still miss the original - 2007 9-3 Anniversary SW.

It's back! (Thanks to Henrik Blom! Although if I would have to redo it I would probably send the LED bar to be repaired instead of doing it myself, luckily I did not need to replace the inner LEDs )

This is is my fifth Saab, and I adore it. I couldn't quite swing the $43,000 price when it was new (I was 21, I think my insurance would have cost more!) but I found this on eBay last year, and my fiancé – I'm so lucky! – just clicked "Buy It Now" and I think I screamed with happiness so loudly that he may still be deaf in that ear! We flew halfway across the country the following weekend, picked it up, and drove it the ~800 miles home that night. We've been just repairing things as they go wrong – it's 17 years old, it could drive itself, I cannot expect a perfect car but this is the perfect car for ME. I just had to be patient.

Take care of your Saab and it'll return the favor. My first had between 250,000 and 300,000 miles on it when someone hit a patch of ice and totaled it for me. I didn't care about the dent and wanted to drive home; he had a LOT more damage and wanted to make a claim – I bet his rates went up, all over a $300 car. Last thing: I had a 1999 9-3 base model convertible, and in 2004, another inattentive driver hit me from behind, and the police investigator estimated that he was going ~45 mph. I had to kick my door open from the inside so I could get out and go scream at him (I watched it all happen in my rear view mirror and it's terrifying when you just have to watch it happen, but a school bus was in front of me, and he pushed me into it). I was really yelling at him, because I was angry that the kids had to go through that on the bus, and I realized that I was completely uninjured. I had bruised forearms from the airbags later on, but my Saab protected me.

If you can still find find a good, well cared-for specimen, snag it. They don't make cars like these anymore. Probably never will. A shame.

    2009 9-3 Aero Convertible 2.8T Auto (current) Previous: '71 99 Sedan, '74 99 Combi, '85 900 Combi
My 2009 Aero convertible. This is my fourth Saab, purchased last December from Swedish Motors in Marietta, PA. It had been a 23 year Saab hiatus since I totaled our 1985 900 Combi. We were looking to replace my beloved Miata with a larger convertible, an automatic. It dawned on me that Saab convertibles were still around, and I found a low-mileage example with everything I wanted. We take it out for long drives and it is a joy. The 2.8 V6 coupled with the automatic makes for a smooth, powerful, effortless ride. After merging onto the Interstate under full throttle, my wife exclaimed, "I love this car!" You can't ask for more than that! Steve in Kensington, MD
