You can actually see the shadowing? I thought no one would even notice. The font used is Gill Sans which Saab uses for their literature, brochure etc. I thought they also used it for the logo but now I see the S is completely different. So more something like this?
Or perhaps keep 'world' in Gill Sans like this.
This is negative spacing as you suggested and 'world' in regular Arial. We have to be careful not to make it too close to the actual logo.
But the SU, SC and SH sites use something similar so I guess it should be all right to use?Last edited by nordwulf; 09 August 2010 at 18:56.

That third one. But apply similar negative spacing to the "world", too.

-15 is too much for 'world'. +5 looks pretty nice.

Anything - doesn't look good. Even 0 makes it difficult to read.

Too late, the new header is on the site now. Thanks for the tip Boon!

I was playing around with the Swedish flag to get a little bit more color in the header. I thought using the d as a flag pole is something different. And I have to disagree with the Dutch flag. Saab is Swedish. Those Dutch think they can rule anything but hands off with Saab..! I also changed the font for 'world' from Arial to Futura. I always found it one of the more interesting fonts. Many visitors here probably had no clue the font changed. :icon_lol:
I have been saving a few flags from the Feedjit site. These are some of them. Not sure where we could include them in the header though.
I was looking for a suitable favicon for the site for a while and played around with the letters SW and little globe. But none of those looked really good. Then it suddenly hit me a Swedish flag would be easy to identify and appropriate for the site. A favicon is a 16x16 pixel that shows up in bookmarks, address bars and some URL shortcuts.Last edited by nordwulf; 13 August 2010 at 03:46.

I'm liking the direction you are heading there Frank!
I'm partial to the flags under the name but would be happy with either.President, The Saab Club of Canada
