The flags under the name will make the header height bigger from 90px to 130px. The flags to the right of the name will fill the empty space a little bit nicer. That's why I favor that design.

The Saab.com page lists the countries where Saab cars are sold. New Zealand and Singapore are missing from the list of flags.
The New Zealand and Australia flags are almost the same. I think it is the NZ flag that is next to Germany. I haven't seen any visitors from Singapore yet so no flag available yet. I am still missing Spain and Italy as well.

Actually, I think the arrangement was that GM Canada was the registered owner.

All joking aside (about the flags, not ownership), Saab is Swedish, regardless of who the owner is or where they reside.
If it is to be one flag, then I agree, Sweden should be it.

Yes ... I didn't say anything about where they were built, just that Saab is Swedish. ;-)

You may have noticed the new slogan in the Phoenix header theme. If not, refresh or reload the page in your browser.

I still have "intellectual" in there because I think that's what really sets apart Saab forums in general and this one in particular. Intellectual can have different meanings but I like "devoted to matters of the mind" and "having more than average knowledge (about Saab)" the best.

Hey Wulf. Since I am a newbie here, I was not aware of this thread and thus of the open ground for the header style you set back in August. Refreshing as it is, I must say that as I entered the site a few days ago, it really got my attention. It hit home for me except the Swedish flag I didn´t realise at first. But it is a clean, ellegant and got an "icey" Saabish look.

A hearty well done from my side.

Thanks Aero. We'll keep working on different themes and headers for the site. Change is good, keeps things interesting.

The four blocks representing the Swedish flag is probably a bit difficult to get at first. I was actually thinking of other symbols that represent the brand but I could only think of some kind of turbo gauge. I just wanted to have something recognizable and stands out as a brand. The flag also reminds me a bit of a checkered racing flag.

Maybe a Griffin similar to the SAAB logo but with its own personality. I am sorry to be completely helpless with graphic design, lest I would try and provide you with some of them. I had in mind a while ago an idea for an avatar consisting of the Griffin logo with the crown leaning over one eye, looking "at the camera" with a somewhat crooked smile while winking an eye.
