2001 Saab 9.5 A/C compressor leaks
Hi Everyone,
I have a question about the A/C Comressor. After the engine clean up, I went to dealer for a A/C leaking check. They put some A/C leak detector UC17 liquid and they did not see any leakege at this time. But we saw moisture on the A/C Compressor. I have to go back in 1-2 weeks check with UV check. Anyone knows, when I change the A/C Compressor is that important to change the A/C Schrader valve, Expansion Valve, A/C pressure switch and A/C dryer too ? My 2001 Saab 9.5 has 75000 miles. I hope, not my A/C Compressor is leaking, maybe the other cheaper parts got problem. I will see in 2 weeks.
Thank you,
Laszlo

I've just been researching A/C systems prior to doing my own. They're all pretty similar, across all makes and models of car. IN my experience, you have to change the receiver-dryer, but nothing else. You have to change the receiver-dryer anytime you open the system to the atmosphere to replace a component.
If the compressor is seized or has suffered a lubrication failure and sent metal debris down the line, then you may need to replace the expansion valve. I assume the things you're calling "schrader valves" are the service ports, although I believe these shouldn't be schrader valves on a car that uses R134A. In any case, I've never heard of needing to replace these.
If you're ever up in New Hampshire or New Jersey, I'll do your system for you, now that I've got all the professional tools
Also, this thread should be in the 9-5 forum or the Tech Talk forum, no? Could a supermod please move it? EDIT: Thanks, Wulf.Last edited by euromobile900; 20 June 2011 at 03:37.
Ask me a question about your c900! I promise I either can answer it or know someone who can
