Thanks Ken. I love the 4th. It usually involves lots of food, lots of sun, lots of swimming, and then lots of blowing stuff up. What could be better?
As Jim Gaffigan says: "I usually don't have a burger, a brat, and a steak but, it is 4th of July. And I need the energy if I'm gonna start blowin crap up. It's what the founding fathers would want."Free SaabWorld Stickers

I feel the same Shazam! Going to get the fireworks for the party at my house later, getting a HUGE order of fried chicken in about 30 minutes, and getting the propane tank for the grille filled up. Pool was vacuumed out yesterday so that's good.

Well, I was going to spend the day out on the lake on my stand-up jetski, but after about 45 minutes of use, I snapped the handle pole. Apparently it's a common problem, but no really fixable unless you want a whole new handle pole... damn. We had a flotilla of 6 boats and two other jetskis before I broke it and had to leave... damn.

Haha, after reading Shazam's post I thought you were gonna say you're gonna use the propane tank for some um, incendiary action
Thanks OldMan. I worked on Friday (albeit from home) but it still felt like a long weekend nevertheless. It's been a CRAPPY Spring (or pretty good Winter depending on your reference point) for the past 6 months and somehow on Canada Day the clouds rolled away to sunshine and blue skies. Took my son to a miniature train ride, he loves the small miniature steam locos in action:

I'm not envious about Canada Day for many reasons. One is that it's about the same time as Independence Day (U.S. Independence Day, not Saab Independence Day).
I am envious about B.C. Day (Civic Holiday in Ontario). The U.S. should make that a public holiday. If necessary, President's Day can remain as a special day, just not a public holiday. Why celebrate President's Day? If so, why not CEO Day or General's and Admiral's Day or Surgeon's Day or Governor's Day? August 1st, which is B.C. Day, would make a fine holiday. It could be to commemorate our neighbours in British Columbia and see if Ottawa and Washington could agree to a more streamlined border crossing.Last edited by Dave T; 05 July 2011 at 03:10.

Never buy Phantom Firework's "Willow in the Palms". Two years in a row the packaging failed and shot shells at the crowd of people watching. This year no one was hit, just my pool and tree in my back yard. Luckily there was no damage. The second mishap with the same firework in two years.
