The stock tire size of the 2005 9-5 Aero is 235/45-17. The 225/55 tires will have a sidewall that is 0.9" / 2.3 cm taller so that is quite a bit (4.0 vs 4.9). Your speedometer will indicate 7.1% too slow compared to the stock tires.
Experts say you should stay within 5% and the 225/55 seem just a bit too large. In addition to the possibility of rubbing with the lower sport suspension, ice and snow build-up in the wheel well may make matters worse. My advice would be not to use these these tires.

Vancouver is hilly. You should get winter tires. If you are willing to settle for used, try to find a set and my set of Blizzak WS60 may be ready next year. I am planning to use them 1-2 more seasons. If the person has a Saab, they can have my tires for a token amount particularly if they are from the Best Place on Earth. My set are 225/55R16, which has the same diameter as the 235/45R17 that I use during the summer. The only other thing to check is to see if the 9-5 can use 16" wheels.

I guess I've been proven wrong! I was told by a local tire shop what I stated above... also been taught roughly the same thing from my dad when I started driving... he even put just two snows on (in the front) for my first winter. It was fine, but because I spent so much time skiing and going down snowy back roads, two more snow tires were my christmas gift that year.
Thanks for the info.Free SaabWorld Stickers
