    Trollhattan Trivia

OK, being amidst all these Saab experts, both Loyalists and Torries alike, here is a test of your Saab knowledge. Jeopardy theme plays gently in the background.

What car had the most horsepower to be made on the production line of Trollhattan.

    * one off specials or race/rally specials excluded of course

Immediately the TurboX and the 280 Aeros come to mind. They had 280.

The 9-5 HOT had somewhere around 260.

Viggens had 220 or 230 depending on the year

You said Trollhattan, so that rules out the 9-7x Aero. That was quite powerful.

But then there is the 2.8T "New" 9-5. That has 300 I believe. So that is my final answer... 2.8T 9-5.

OK, since this is starting to emerge in some of the Evil General Murderers posts on other forums in the form of hints, this is something I stumbled across last week while searching for stuff on the CTS-V that I may never own.

It was built for other markets like Arabian and stuff and never did well with production running from 2005 to 2009, some being built in Kallingrad and having a variety of engines including diesel.

The Cadillac BLS was 320 horsepower and some had the 2.8 engine and were made on the Trollhattan line with the 9-3's.

It pissed a lot of people off and was a badged 9-3 "lovingly", the BLS was called the Bob Lutz Special. Of course that new Opel is a clone too.

Of course seeing the Opel and the Cadillac get me even more PO's at Hirsch for those glib answers first with "not on the California Emissions List" and then "We can't do a US or Canadian upgrade because after the European sales, with the Turbo X, we ran out of parts", this proves it is all the more hooey and baloney. Why pizzed? Because I waited like a little kid at Christmas for Santa to come.

Finally got the 320 horsepower but I did not need the year of back and forth bugging the dealers. I know that Caddy and Opels don't have bigger turbos ... do they?

That's quite upsetting because a) I didn't know the answer and b) it had a Cadillac badge!

    trick question

Well it was kind of a trick question but it did say ..... on the production line ..... not specifically Saab.

I thought as native types, and usually you folks are much more knowledgeable, I figured you would know.

This may not be correct either. It's just the one I stumbled across.

It also shows on the BLS wiki page. So it must be true!

Is the BLS the only car that originally was a Saab and re-badged into something else? I can't think of any.

They got 320? So many Saab owners have been asking for more power, and they couldn't even put it in the TurboX!

That would be a cruel GM joke, wouldn't it? Turbo X with 280hp and the unassuming BLS with 320hp. I'd say this myth is unconfirmed.. !
