    Engine change

I am about to do an engine change in my 93 9-5. I am useing a low mi (under 80,000) 95 motor. I would like to use the auto trans too but am told it is too different.
    Anything I should look for?
    Thanks,
    GEORGE!!

    Question 4 cyl engine change

Next week I am going to swap engines in my 9-5 Gen 1 anything I should know that would help. I have a donor car I am pulling the motor out of.

There are instructions for powertrain removal in the Saab WIS. I can post those if it helps you out.

I see that is for a std trans. Do you know if there is much difference in a auto? I was wondering if the frame came down. I see it is like GM and you drop it all out the bottom.
My flat rate book calls it for 5.5hrs. That appears to be a chore in and out that quick.
I'll keep all posted. I have the wrecked '93 to practice on. It is hit in the pass front so I may cut the corner off to get it out.

I thought it was for both transmissions as step 12 is for the manual and 13 is for the auto.

I would probably need 5.5 days (if not weeks) for a project like that.

the 99 looks like it is a 4 spd. auto. The yard says it is different.

MY99-MY01 used the 4 speed auto transmission.
The first year for the 5 speed was 2002 and it wasn't a good year.
You cannot put a 5 sp in the earlier models and you can't use any other 5sp in a 2002 9-5.
