I never had an outdoors knife before so it was time to get my first one. I did some research and decided on the Ka-Bar BK-10. It is made in the USA so that was a big plus for me. This one seems to be a nice balance between strength, weight, shape and comfort. Overall length is 11" and blade length is 5 1/2". Not too small and not too big. I am not an expert in all the different steel that is used in knifes but the 1095 Cro-Van steel seems strong and has a very sharp edge that is supposed to remain like that better than stainless. First impression has been very good so far.

Interesting thread...have several sig sauer guns and one of their ARs -- personal preference for the heavier metal bodies. Have a Ruger 10/22 I bought my 9 year old who is now 17. The Ruger is still a favorite when we shoot outdoors. The wife has a Browning Camper/22-- light and not too "noisy." They all fit very comfortably in my black 9-5 Aero too.
