Weird Coolant change

So I just finished my first coolant change on my 04' ARC and something unexpected happened. It might be nothing , but I just thought I should look into it. I was following the directions in my haynes manual and I started by removing the cap to the reservoir, and the it told me to drain from both the water pump and the radiator. I started by draining from the water pump and about one full jug of coolant came out. I then went on to the drain on the bottom of the rad. I cracked open the drain and nothing came out ? I thought there would still be fluid left at the bottom of the radiator? Am I wrong is assuming that? Anyway I filled up the reservoir with about what I took out and drove around the block with the heater on high and the temp gauge went up to the half way mark and stayed there. What do you guys think?

Perhaps the drain is clogged? I am not sure if the drain plug is the same on the 9-3 as the 9-5 but you have to turn and pull it out on the 9-5.

I was thinking the drain plug is clogged, but someone over at saabcentral mentioned he had to pull on his 9-3 petc*ck for anything to come out. The thing is I'm using both the Haynes manual and the WIS as a reference when doing the coolant change and I'm pretty sure neither mentioned having to pull on the plug for fluid to come out just turn it from its original 90 degree position to the left at 180 degrees?

    Cane anyone confirm this?

    Thanks
