Transmission line needs home, hard shifting from park to drive ???

Hi everyone I am new member,

I just replacing a head gasket on my 2003 9/5 2.3 L When doing so I noticed that a rubber hose line on top of the transmission was never connected to anything. I am not sure if the related, but I am having a delay in shifting from park to drive, there is a 1-2 second pause followed by a hard jerk. Once the car is in drive it seems to shift just fine, with very minimal to no slipping into all of the other gears. Can this be related to the hose no connected ??

In addition I am planning to flush out the transmission, but need advise on the rubber line home connection.

Any input on this will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Thomas

That is a vent hose for the transmission, doesn't get connected to anything. The hard shift might be from the bushing in the torque rod (lower transmission mount) being worn out. How many miles on the car? Generally the transmission should get flushed out every 60k at minimum. I personally do a drain and fill about every 30k because I'm neurotic.

The car has 93000 it most likely was flushed at 60,000, but I am only guessing. I will check out the mount and do a complete flush. Thanks for the heads up on the hose.
