On my way home from work tonight I stopped by Peace Valley Park - as I drive past it everyday to and from work. Its and old quarry turned into a lake and a state park. So I took some pictures of the vert top down after a wash before leaving work.

After work today I went and FINALLY picked up my "low mileage" used TD04HL-15T turbo from a 2002 9-3 SE. Turbo upgrade here we come.

Picking up @ Carlisle a GS Intake and my Subframe Brace. I think the 17" 2007 Anniversary wheels may be going on this car next post the turbo. I may need the new extra rubber to have traction after a quick tune from EPL Performance.

Now that you've brought up turbos... how do you tell if one is good? I managed to get a TD04 (that's what came stock on the NG900, right?) for free a couple years ago. It looks a bit old, and I can wiggle the shaft ever so slightly with my fingers. Give it a pry with a screw diver and I'd be surprised if you could get it to move a millimeter in any direction.

I plan on giving it away when the buyer comes to get the car, but I'd like to be able to tell them with some sort of confidence if it is any good.

    ng900 = T25 (all of em)

    T5 9000 LPT = T25
    T5 9000 FPT = T25 + BPC
    T5 9000 Aero Automatic = T25 + BPC
    T5 9000 Aero Manual = TD04

    og9-3 base = GT17
    of9-3 SE/HOT = TD04

    og9-5 base = GT17
    og9-5 SE/HOT/Aero = TD04

    smoking turbo means going bad

off the car inspect for oil in the exhaust housing. check for impeller wear on the housings and damaged impellers.

make sure you can turn the shaft with your fingers easily

make sure there is almost 0 play of the shaft up and down. in and out play is ok - as long as its minimal.

Then I Installed the AMP - and I DO NEED that cable I thought - not pre-installed.

So once I get the cable - I'll be all set with the door speakers!

I have some nice aftermarket dash speakers I may install - already have the Harmon Kardon's installed and am not impressed.

I just picked up a '99 9-3 that I was hoping to install the amp and door speakers in. I wasn't aware that the wiring was already pre-existing. That is really great news!

The speakers I put in were from a 9-5 and "fit" but the panel was not flush to the door - they are still in and operational, they need upgrading. I did sell that car to a friend so it's around and I still service it.
