Oil Change
Advance Auto has a Mobil 1 oil change along with a Mobil 1 Oil Filter for $33.99, my question is, are the Mobil 1 filters ok to use and if they are ok which filter should I use, the one for my car or something else like a PT Cruiser turbo filter. Thanks for your information.

The Mobil 1 filter for a PT Cruiser GT is "M1-209".
Others for quick reference:
Fram --3600
STP S3600
Bosch 3422
K&N HP 2009
Motorcraft's filter is FL400-S, but they shrunk the length of their PT Cruiser GT filter over a year ago. I emailed them about it and the basic answer was they'd pass my concerns on to the appropriate people. They still had the short size when I check a month ago. So check the length of any of these filters next to the stock Saab 9-5 filter and make sure you're getting the extra filter material.

Should I use the Mobil 1 filter they recommend for my saab or would the Cruiser be a better choice or a factory Saab filter?

I don't have much brand loyalty for oil filters, myself, as long as they aren't in the "value-tier". I would gladly use a Mobil1 filter on my car. This guy did a lot of research and says Mobil1 filters are the same as a Champion filter on the inside.
As for which size and/or sticking to the OEM filters -you- should use: I'd say to go with what you're comfortable putting on your car. If the idea of a non-Saab filter on the car isn't sitting well, then go with OEM. Same for the extended size v. stock size. Life is full of enough anxiety already.

I have used Mobil 1 oil filters myself but can't really say if they are good or bad quality. I stay away from Purolator filters as they generally have a bad reputation. Mobil makes good oil so I assume their filters are good as well, otherwise they wouldn't put their name on it.

New to the site, but not filter issues. I used to do a lot of racing, and although not in turbo-equipped cars there are two keys. First, flow rates and second, quality and amount of pleating materials. On both accounts, I look to the same maufacturers that NASCAR and NHRA and the like use. WIX filters are made here in the US, made with high quality filtration fibers and although densely packed, flow very well. I have been using them in every vehicle in our family for the last 28 years. They stack up against the top brands available and be had at almost all chain parts houses...

...and the NAPA gold is the same filter made by Wix.
