Neutral Safety Switch usually causes a no crank issue, I just replaced one of those last week.

A Crank without Starting issue is commonly the Crankshaft Position Sensor ($45 to $68 at Rock Auto) or a Fuel Pump ($600 for full Saab part, $100 for Walbor pump insert only). The CPS issue usually rears it head with hot restart only, after re-reading your message where you state this has happened before but cleared after cool down time I would try this part. I don't like to throw parts at a car but these CPS are known to fail with age so replacing it now is only replacing it early in worst case, and will probably fix your problem.

Or could it be dirty gas? I just replaced the fuel filter and it ran great. Overnight rest and it won't fire. Could trash in the tank cause that? Is there a way to examine the filter to see if it is dirty? I guess I could see if the spark plugs are wet.

Those filters are intended to last 60K miles. I doubt it would be plugged after only 1 or 2 days.

A failed CPS prevents the fuel pump from running. Lift the rear seat cushion and remove the carpet flap and paint can lid covering the fuel pump. As you turn the ignition key to ON and START you should be able to hear the pump run. If it never runs the pump is bad. If it runs for 2 or 3 seconds then stops the CPS is bad. If the pump runs your problem is elsewhere.

FYI, I replaced the CPS ($62 Rock Auto) and it worked great. I could do it in 20 minutes now, but doing it the first time took me 2 hours, a few scratches, and a nice bruise. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
