I sold my high mileage 9-5 tonight

I bought a 2008 9-5 Aero two weeks ago to replace my 318,000+ mile 2000 9-5 Base. I listed my old car for sale after receiving the license plate for the "new" car. The first person who took my old 9-5 for a test drive bought it for close to my asking price - which I based on the KBB recommendation for this year and mileage.

    Down to two Saabs again!

300K+ miles is pretty amazing. That's about 26K miles a year. Was it still pretty reliable?

It was still reliable but my automotive needs require a vehicle for 100+ mile daily commutes and trouble-free travel to construction sites hundreds of miles away. It was a fantastic car for the full twelve years I owned it but I felt the smart thing to do was to move it to a lower severity of duty use. Unfortunately I don't have a lower severity duty use so selling it to someone who did have less demanding needs seemed the prudent move.

The first time I heard the note of my SAAB/Remus coupled to the 3-inch down-pipe from outside the car was when the buyers took it for a test drive. Wow! What a sweet burbling sound. I had only heard the exhaust note from the driver's seat. Now I understand all the looks and stares I would receive from pedestrians when I drove past.

That's amazing to own a car for 12 years and driving so many miles. I wish I could accomplish the same some day.

I like it. It is tighter than my 2000 which I had upgraded to an Aero suspension two years ago. The interior is very similar and I much prefer the faux aluminum dash over the dark smokey colored wood in the latest non-Aero models.

I just discovered yesterday that I have rain sensing wipers - I thought something was wrong with the rheostat and was about to buy a replacement stalk rather than argue with a Service Dept over warranty.

I also love the extra 90 horse power!

Now I just need to clear out all the old radio stations set by the previous owner and program the garage door opener to work with my rolling code system. In addition to doing the full regimen of fluid changes since I don't know what the Cadillac Dealer used as motor oil when they serviced the car before I bought it, nor if the previous owner ever changed the brake fluid, tranny fluid, or coolant.

I'm happy to say that car now has 220,000 miles on it and is still going strong (stronger now than when I got it from Frank due to a Stage 1 upgrade ).
